W.J. Mouat Secondary School in Abbotsford celebrates 50th anniversary with events

W.J. Mouat Secondary School is celebrating their golden jubilee with events on May 24 and 25.

The school is inviting alumni to participate in a basketball tournament. The schedule of events on May 24 will include registration and open gym from 3 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., the current varsity team will face Abbotsford Senior Secondary from 5 p.m. to 6:30 p.m., and a girls alumni event will be held from 6:30 p.m. to 8 p.m. The night will come to a close with a social at the Abbotsford Rugby Club from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. A variety of alumni games will also be played on May 25 from 9 a.m. to 2 p.m.

There will be an open house on May 25 from 11 a.m. to 3 p.m. for those interested in guided tours by students. A barbeque will happen at the same time where attendees can get a $5 combo that includes a hot dog, chips and pop.

Later in the evening from 7 p.m. to 11 p.m. there will be a 19+ only event with dancing, a live band and a DJ. Tickets are $25 and include refreshments and one beverage. A cash bar and 50/50 ticket sales will also be available.

The school would like to see representation from each grad class over the past 50 years for the events on May 25.

W.J. Mouat has also created 50th anniversary merchandise for purchase. All proceeds go to the newly established golden jubilee student scholarship.

Tickets are available online for the events until May 22. They can also be purchased directly from the school office.
